Diwang Pinay: Spirit of the Filipina

GABRIELA LA strives to create a space where everyday Filipinas can creatively tell our stories through a cultural show we call, “Diwang Pinay: Spirit of The Filipina.”

We strongly encourage first time performers or presenters!

Through the theme “Stories of Resistance,” Diwang Pinay invites Filipinos to showcase and celebrate the stories of Filipino women and gender non-conforming Filipinos and their acts of courage, fortitude, and resistance through art (song, poetry, dance, theatre, visual art, and more).

This year, GABRIELA LA looks to the International Day to End Violence Against Women to grow our resolve to end all forms of violence Filipino women and gender non-conforming Filipinos – gender, domestic, economic, political, and others.

Diwang Pinay will include stories of Filipinas, including our experiences, struggles, hopes, and aspirations for the future.
